Van uitdaging naar oplossing in 5 stappen

What is a Design Sprint?

A Design Sprint is a short, powerful working method in which a team works from problem to tested prototype in at least five sessions. Using design thinking techniques, you first thoroughly investigate the issue, then come up with solutions and test them in practice. This gives you a quick insight into what works – and what doesn’t.

Understanding the Challenge

The team starts by exploring the context and stakeholders. What is really going on? What is the underlying need?

Empathic conversations

Through interviews and personas, the team delves into the perspective of users and stakeholders. This ensures well-founded insights.

Generating ideas and choose

Based on insights, ideas are generated and translated into promising solutions.

Prototyping

The chosen concept is quickly turned into a tangible prototype. Think of a customer journey, mock-up, landing page, or service blueprint.

Testing and validating

The team tests the prototype with users and collects feedback, which is used to refine the concept.

Fast , with commitment and practical

  • Works quickly to achieve clear results

Design Sprints within Transition Hacking

At STUDIO.WHY, we use Design Sprints as part of our broader approach: Transition Hacking. This method helps organizations take steps toward sustainable change. We strategically select teams, match them with the right skills (IDGs), and guide them through the entire process—from initial idea to working prototype. Together, we create a movement that extends beyond a single project.

Does this sound familiar? Then a Design Sprint is just the thing for you.

  • You have a complex issue that requires a new approach.
  • You want to test ideas quickly without making large investments right away.
  • You are seeking energy and support within your organization.
  • You want more ownership and collaboration in your team

Our guidance makes the difference

Together, we will design a Design Sprint that suits your issue and context. This includes intake, guidance, and completion. Or learn how to guide a Design Sprint yourself, from intake to final presentation. Especially for internal coaches, innovation leaders, and sustainability managers.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Consider:

    • How can we revamp our onboarding process?
    • How can we make collaboration between departments more effective?
    • How can we work more sustainably as an organization?

The question does not have to be precise yet. We will help clarify it during the intake phase.

  • Participants work on skills such as:

    • creative thinking,
    • collaborate (co-creation),
    • empathic listening,
    • dealing with complexity,
    • persevere in the face of adversity.

These skills are useful not only in the project, but also in everyday work.

  • No, that’s not necessary. We guide you step by step. During the sprint, you will receive mini-masterclasses, coaching, and practical tools. You learn by doing, in a safe and inspiring environment. However, it has been shown that if a number of participants have been trained in advance, the learning efficiency of the group and the quality of the outcome are improved.

  • Certainly. We offer customized Design Sprints tailored to your organization and specific needs. The sessions can take place at your location, in our innovation studio in Geldermalsen or remote via MS Teams and Miro.

  • Yes, we also offer training courses for internal coaches, facilitators, and innovation and sustainability managers. In these courses, you will learn how to prepare and supervise a Design Sprint within your organization.
