What are the Inner Development Goals?

The Inner Development Goals (IDGs) are a set of skills and qualities that help us create better solutions to complex challenges. They strengthen what we need inside to make a real difference on the outside. IDGs were developed to complement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and make sustainable change personal, practical, and achievable.

What does the IDG framework entail?

Transitions require more than technical solutions. They require people who are resilient, able to collaborate, dare to think differently, and act purposefully. The Inner Development Goals provide direction for the skills needed to achieve this. A concrete framework that helps shape the “how” of change.

The five dimensions of the Inner Development Goals

The IDGs consist of five dimensions with a total of 23 skills:

  • Being – Self-knowledge, peace of mind, and your inner compass
  • Thinking – Critical thinking and dealing with complexity
  • Relating – Empathy, communication, and inclusion
  • Collaborating – Trust and working together to achieve results
  • Acting – Courage, creativity, and doing what is necessary
