SintLucas – develop training offerings in collaboration with entrepreneurs, creative professionals and teachers

CHALLENGE

SintLucas, a large school in the Netherlands,  trains employees to become Design Thinking facilitators to solve social issues with SintLucas Next. Their mission is to develop training offerings in collaboration with entrepreneurs, creative professionals and teachers. We focus on market demand and realize an offer that meets the wishes and needs.

Together we discover the qualities of a facilitator
Experience design thinking together in a training

SOLUTION

We designed a three-day training in which SintLucas employees experienced the essence of Design Thinking and gain knowledge and experience with being a facilitator.

Day 1 consisted of an introduction to Design Thinking through a serious game; their assignment came from mister Wunderbaum, amusement park director, who wanted to improve his employees’ happiness at work. Together they spoke to employees and visitors of the amusement park to see where there are opportunities and with creative thinking techniques they came up with solutions for the amusement park. We call this learning by doing.

On days 2 and 3 we considered the role of the facilitator. We went deeper into the competencies of the facilitator, allowing participants to ask many questions themselves and to direct the training. They have designed with the facilitator glasses at meetings and practiced elements with the group and in this way gained experience with the role of the facilitator.

RESULT

Three days of training, including relaxed hotel accommodation, provided a nice Design Thinking bubble, after which participants went home with:

  • Knowledge about Design Thinking
  • Knowledge about the steps taken by the Dutch Design Deltas
  • Methods that they can use in Design Thinking
  • New energizers, warm-ups and introductory exercises
  • Experience preparing meetings as a facilitator
  • Experience in facilitating working methods of the Dutch Design Deltas
  • Reference work in the form of digital handbooks and canvases that can be used
  • A great connection with colleagues
result of Design Thinking: lots of colorful post-its

"A well-thought-out training with all steps from problem to concept to implementation and with room for tailor-made adjustments."
