How to use Miro to solve educational challenges (in an innovative way)

In 2019, Miro hand-selected STUDIO.WHY as one of the consultants and agencies worldwide that can help companies solve their most difficult challenges.

Thus, for example, the municipality of Catalunya found us. With them we have created tools that these educational institutions could use more often to stimulate innovative behavior among young people.

We organized a fantastic hackathon for 600 students from multiple universities worldwide. The tools that have been developed are used by the universities today

Miro brainstorm

Miro is a digital whiteboard platform that can be used for brainstorming and other collaborative activities. With Miro, you can create visual diagrams, mind maps, and other types of visualizations to help stimulate ideas and facilitate discussion.

Here are a few steps you can follow to use Miro for brainstorming:

  1. Set up a Miro board: Create a new Miro board and invite your team members to join.
  2. Define the problem or challenge: Clearly define the problem or challenge you are trying to solve. This will help to focus the brainstorming session and ensure that the ideas generated are relevant to the task at hand.
  3. Use prompts or techniques to stimulate ideas: You can use prompts or techniques (such as SCAMPER or Six Thinking Hats) to stimulate ideas and help people think creatively. You can also use Miro’s built-in tools (such as sticky notes, shapes, and text boxes) to create visual diagrams and mind maps.
  4. Collaborate and share ideas: Encourage participants to add their ideas to the Miro board in real-time. Miro allows for real-time collaboration, so team members can see and build upon each other’s ideas in real-time.
  5. Record and organize the ideas: Make sure to record all of the ideas that are generated, and use Miro’s organization tools (such as labels and tags) to organize the ideas in a way that makes it easy to review and discuss them.

By following these steps, you can use Miro to effectively conduct a brainstorming session and generate ideas with your team.

Miro Expert hour by Mark Herberts

In March 2021 our colleague Mark Herberts shared his experiences in working on innovations in education through applying STUDIO.WHY Design Thinking and Miro.

STUDIO.WHY works together with the Dutch province of Gelderland to see if we can solve the challenge of the availability of sufficient amounts of teachers. Mark shares his experience during this program via this one hour online session.

You can view the recordings over here.
