Recalibrating vision of more flexible and sustainable collaboration

CHALLENGE

STUDIO.WHY supported Waterboard Vallei & Veluwe some years ago with the redevelopment of the vision on The New World of Work. With the new reality caused by Covid-19, the organization needed an adaptation of this vision with a new focus on remote work and social belonging. STUDIO.WHY was asked to facilitate a sprint to support this re-development.

SOLUTION

We facilitated a sprint with a multidisciplinary team at the organization, most of them rather young professionals. We trained them to have empathetic conversations  with their colleagues to find out what they liked regarding remote work and what they were longing for from the past. Based on these insights they worked on various scenarios how to collaborate after the lockdowns. The team executed several experiments and learned from them, resulting in a plan to restyle the way the office was designed.

RESULT

The sprint lead to a more sustainable use of the office as well as less traveling. As staff members more often work from home, a reduction of office space was obtained, so the organization could stop renting additional space. Besides the benefits in less costs, staff members felt a better work-life balance and proud to make steps towards an even more sustainable organization.

"We are not going back to square one; we are building the future. Hybrid work is becoming part of our corporate culture."
